How to Feel Confident on Command: The Circle of Excellence

← All articles

You know that hit of doubt right before something big, the ask, the launch, the leap. There’s a way to steady yourself right when you need it, and it’s a real technique, not a pep talk.

What’s an anchor?

A scent can drop you straight back into a memory. That’s an anchor, a cue that instantly brings back a feeling. You can build one on purpose.

The Circle of Excellence, step by step

  1. Find a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted.
  2. Imagine a circle on the floor in a color that means power to you.
  3. Picture a specific dream you’re chasing, and get clear on how it would feel to reach it.
  4. Step into the circle. Feel the ground, take a breath.
  5. Recall a real time you felt powerful and successful.
  6. Relive it fully, the sights and sounds and how it felt.
  7. At the peak of that feeling, touch your wrist. That’s your anchor.
  8. Step out, carrying it with you.

Using it in real life

Any time doubt creeps in, touch your wrist and breathe. You’re back in the state. The more you practice, the stronger it gets. That’s anchoring: pairing a physical cue with an emotional state until the cue can call the state back. Grounded, repeatable, yours.
